How these rankings are built
Teams are ordered strictly by the Signal Labs model's power rating — a projected,
opponent-adjusted measure of team strength expressed in points versus an average FBS team.
Projected wins is the sum of our per-game win probabilities across the 2026 slate, so it
already prices in upset risk. Every team read is assembled deterministically from our own model
fields — power rating, projected record, the 2026 roster reconstruction (returning production,
transfer-portal additions, incoming class) and schedule. This is analytical modeling, not a
prediction of results.
